Nia Govan is a leader in the Wilson Park Northern Community. A community that had been dormant for a while, now under Nia’s leadership has grown to numerous members regularly attending the monthly community meetings. Wilson Park Northern has celebrated National Night Out, held two charrettes, and many cleanups.
Nia Govan is
an organizer for a fresh food distribution site in the neighborhood that we
dubbed the community farmers market. The farmers market comes to Wilson Park in
Baltimore City every 2nd and 4th Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, the
neighborhood is a food desert and the farmers market provides a great way to
provide neighbors the opportunity to get fresh food in the neighborhood. Since
October, 150 patrons have come to each farmers market.
Nia Govan is a lifelong resident of Baltimore City; educated in the Baltimore City Public School system attending Guilford Elementary, Roland Park Elementary/Middle and Baltimore City College High School also a graduate of Towson University.
